What is included in a professional split AC cleaning, and how long does it take?
A proper split air conditioner deep clean removes the unit's cover and filters, pressure-washes the aluminium cooling coil and the blower wheel, flushes the drain pan and drain line, and applies an EPA-approved disinfectant, finishing with a temperature and drainage check. It takes 30–45 minutes per unit and costs from ₪350 in Israel. Simply rinsing the filters — which is what most ten-minute call-outs amount to — does not reach the coil, and therefore does not remove the mold that causes the smell.
A split system is the white rectangular box mounted high on a wall, with a separate compressor outside on a balcony or a bracket. In Hebrew it's a מזגן עילי. If you have one of these in each room rather than vents in the ceiling, this is your service.
