How much does air conditioner cleaning cost in Israel?

Short answer

At Sayeret HaMazganim, a deep clean of one split (wall-mounted) air conditioner costs ₪350 as of 2026, with packages of ₪499 for two units and ₪749 for three. A mini-central system starts from ₪450, with each air duct priced separately from ₪249 per duct, so a typical three-duct apartment runs ₪900–₪1,200 all in. A rock-bottom quote almost always describes a filter rinse rather than a coil clean. Reputable companies quote in writing before dispatch, charge no call-out fee, and take payment after the work.

Why the range is so wide

The single biggest reason two quotes for "cleaning an air conditioner" in Israel can differ by a factor of three is that they describe two different jobs. At the low end, a technician arrives, pulls out the two mesh filters, rinses them under a tap, wipes the front panel and leaves. Ten minutes, a small fee. Nothing has been cleaned in any meaningful sense.

A deep clean means removing the casing, fitting a collection bag, and pressure-washing the aluminium cooling coil and the blower wheel behind it — the two components that actually accumulate mold and biofilm — then flushing the drain pan and line and disinfecting. Forty-five minutes of work, specialist equipment, and a result you can see.

The four things that move the price

1

How many units. Most of the cost of a single call-out is travel and set-up. The second and third unit are far cheaper per unit, which is why packages exist.

2

Split or mini-central. A concealed mini-central takes two to three times as long and needs duct equipment, so it starts higher.

3

Number of ducts. On mini-central systems each duct is a separate job. Two-duct and six-duct apartments are not comparable.

4

Condition and age. A unit untouched for five years needs more time, more chemical, and occasionally a second pass.

Is it worth it financially?

Setting aside air quality: the U.S. Department of Energy puts the energy penalty of a dirty condenser coil at up to 30 percent of compressor consumption, and an EPA study found that around a millimetre of fouling cut system efficiency by 21 percent. For an Israeli household running air conditioning through a five-month summer, a ₪350 clean frequently recovers its cost within the same season on the electricity bill alone — before you count the compressor you didn't have to replace.

The evidence, with sources

We would rather cite research than make claims. These are the figures behind what we do.

30%

A dirty condenser coil can increase compressor energy consumption by up to 30 percent.

U.S. Department of Energy, cited in Buildings, "Clean HVAC System Coils Save Energy"
21%

As little as 0.042 inches (about 1 mm) of fouling on a coil has been measured to cut system efficiency by 21 percent.

2–5×

Indoor levels of common organic pollutants run two to five times higher than outdoors — and occasionally more than 100 times higher.

U.S. EPA, "The Inside Story: A Guide to Indoor Air Quality"
90%

People spend roughly 90 percent of their time indoors, which is where the air an air conditioner circulates actually matters.

Coil fouling and its energy cost is a documented research area — see also Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, "Dirty air conditioners: Energy implications of coil fouling." Figures above are from United States agencies; Israeli conditions, with higher year-round humidity than most of the US, are generally harder on equipment rather than easier.
